Donna & Donna serving hot
chocolate at the baseball fields.
One of my dearest friends is "The
Other Donna" that I
talk about in my posts and who writes content for
Leave a Trace.
God brought the two of us together in 2001. When we met, we
knew we had found a friend that was and is on a similar page in the
"Book of Life." Like me, she is an x-teacher who now stays at
home with her two wonderful children when she is not volunteering at
their school, the church, or in the community.
Neither Donna nor I are perfect and we don’t live perfect lives.
Between us, in our families, we have dealt with many life trials ~
alcoholism, cancer, divorce, heart disease, job loss, miscarriages, elderly parent
care, chronic childhood illness, obesity, anxiety, and depression to
name just a part of everyday reality. Throughout it all we have
struggled like everyone else, but our hope and faith lays with Christ.

About Us
I am using the term "us" because
this adventure is really about "us." There is never a
time when I have been alone in thinking, planning, or dreaming about
what Leave a Trace is or could be. There
is no doubt in my mind that Leave a Trace is a
"God-thing." He put this project on my heart and continues to
encourage me to move forward with it. He has also put some
amazing people in my life that have held my hand and kicked me in the
behind when necessary!
There have been many a time that
I have been just quietly minding my own business and God has nudged
me into working on this website. I will tell you right now
that I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA where all of this is leading. I
have grown to accept that for me, right now, this is a HUGE learning
experience. I am learning a lot about writing, blogging,
creating websites, and a few extremely useful programs that I have
installed on my computer. I have also learned a lot about
myself; specifically about my personal tolerances for anxiety and
criticism.
Who am I? I am a Christian mom
and wife and I am a "new-Southerner." As I am often reminded
by "old-Southerners." I grew up in upstate New York. My
husband and I moved to the south in the 1990's and we are here to
stay! I have a Master's Degree in Education and taught middle
school math and social studies in the public school system of New
York State. Now I am a stay at home mom who spends a lot of
time not staying at home!
Over
the past 10+ years I have worked in Children's Ministries at my
church in various ways. For a few years I was on staff
full-time, until I had my third child and full-time was just way too
much. Now I am an assistant teacher for 2 year olds while my
little one is at preschool and my big kids are at big school and I
love it! I also enjoy facilitating a couple of adult Bible
studies, help with our church's consignment sale, and lend a hand
whenever I am able.
I am not a Bible Scholar, but I have
gotten past the intimidation that sometimes happens when reading and
studying the Bible. If I am faced with a question that I not
confident in answering through my own study, I have many resources and
amazing mentors, who have been blessed with knowledge and discernment,
to go to for guidance.
At the end of the day I am just the me God created, looking toward
Jesus as my guide in life, letting Him lead me where He wants me to go.
